Install Guide

Turbocharger Installation Best Practices

Proper installation helps prevent premature turbocharger failure. Inspect the oil, air, coolant, intake, and exhaust systems to make sure the new turbocharger has clean oil flow, proper airflow, and no restrictions or leaks.

Change Engine Oil & Oil Filter Fresh oil and a new filter are required for every turbo installation.
Inspect or Replace Engine Air Filter & Intake Ducting Make sure the intake system is clean and free of debris or restriction.
Inspect Oil Feed Line & Drain Line Restricted, clogged, or contaminated oil lines can cause premature turbo failure.
Inspect any Applicable Coolant Lines Water-cooled turbos require clean, unrestricted, leak-free coolant lines.
Check Intercooler & Exhaust Systems Inspect hoses, clamps, intercooler piping, exhaust leaks, and foreign object damage. Oil residue in the intercooler or exhaust can indicate significant engine issues.
Prime Turbo Before Startup Pre-lube the turbocharger and verify oil flow before normal engine operation.
Important: Always follow the vehicle manufacturer’s service procedures. A replacement turbo can fail early if the original cause of failure is not corrected. Undiagnosed engine issues can lead to denied warranty claims.
